How the Federal State of Hesse strategically establishes tourism in rural areas.

EMBASSY designed and moderated a participatory process in 2019 to 2020 to develop the strategy for tourism in rural areas in Hesse for the future. In addition to representatives from two Hessian ministries, experts from tourism, the hospitality sector, the administrative sector, numerous expert associations and nature parks were also involved and their knowledge was incorporated into the development of the strategy. The result is the strategy document “Hesse. State. Tourism. It takes a close look at what rural tourism in Hesse has to offer to date, defines existing development potential and makes recommendations for the future.

How to raise awareness of typical architecture and regional cuisine.

In summer 2018, EMBASSY developed, realised and designed a series of events for tourism service providers in gastronomy and accommodation in various regions of Hesse for the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and the HA Hessen Agentur. At the events, topics such as “regionality”, “nature experiences”, “enjoyment” and “sustainability” were linked to high-quality tourism offers, creating an understanding of the importance of quality and regionality.

How a workshop roadshow enhances the quality of tourism in rural areas in Hesse.

For the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, EMBASSY revived the profile theme “Nature and Countryside Experience” in Hessian tourism destinations in 15 workshops. The hands-on events brought together local stakeholders, the strategic orientation of the state and the natural, infrastructural and service-oriented potentials. In the eleven (now ten) Hessian destinations, concrete tourism offers were developed within the profile theme. In addition, the regional identity was consolidated and the awareness of the regional characteristics and strengths increased.
